Walk in the footsteps of Søren Kierkegaard on a 12 km long scenic hiking trail that starts and ends in Gilleleje harbor. Invite your friends, colleagues, kids, your mother, or someone you've just met, on the hiking trail to share the experience and immerse yourself in thoughts together. During the 12 km you will be faced with 12 Kierkegaard quotes that pave the way for reflection and conversation.
It is completely up to you whether you want to walk the whole trail at once or divide the experience into smaller chunks. Every quote invites for reflection and conversation regardless of the sequence you experience them in. In this way it is possible for you to walk from for instance quote 9 - 5 if that is the route that suits you. If a quote requires longer time to immerse yourselves in, you also have the possibility of taking a break on a bench along the way before moving on to the next quote.
All you have to do is download Kierkegaard by Nature Gilleleje in the Useeum-app.
When you experience the beautiful and diverse landscape of Gilleleje you will not be surprised why this was a place Kierkegaard visited often to walk. The route passes several scenic spots including Gilbjerget, which was one of his favorite places. Enjoy your walk!
Take a walk in Copenhagen, in the footsteps of Søren Kierkegaard - from cradle to grave. The route is approximately 5.8 km. long, or about 7600 steps, and will take you around inner Copenhagen - but also outside the fortifications to Assistens Kierkegård in Nørrebro, where Søren Kierkegaard is resting. During the walk you will visit a total of 10 locations, which in chronological order tells the story of Søren Kierkegaard's fascinating life. Each location contains a question for self-reflection.
Søren Kierkegaard remained for most of his short life within the fortifications of Copenhagen. He wandered the streets and alleys endlessly while he talked to tall as short, young as old, rich as poor. He himself mentioned that he often spoke with up to 50 people every day. He was concerned with life itself – the life people lived, and it was in the daily talks that he found much of his inspiration.
In this spirit we hope you will enjoy the city and the diversity along the route! The questions for self-reflection are meant to encourage thoughts and conversations about your own story and your own choices in life. We therefore recommend doing some stops along the way, take some detours, maybe get a chat with a stranger or make a whole day out of it with someone you care about - to make the walk a unique and personal experience.
All you have to do is download Kierkegaard by Nature Copenhagen in the Useeum app, go to Nytorv and let yourself be guided through the route. Enjoy!
